To celebrate one of the last weekends of the summer we are combing two things we love: a well-deserved happy hour and fair trade everything – to bring you three fair trade cocktail recipes. It’s pretty amazing how with very little effort you can find great fair trade alternatives to products you use regularly. Today, we are swapping out the spirits we would normally use to mix up a drink for their fair trade counterparts. FAIR is a certified fair trade spirits brand dedicated to using high quality products that are sourced ethically and sustainably. From vodka derived from fair trade quinoa produced by Andean farmers and rum made of sugar can grown with organic and sustainable methods, FAIR cares about the people, the planet and the product.
“Our company believes in treating all people fairly. Our vision has taken us all over the world to source the best ingredients for our high quality spirits. We believe that all the people involved, in every stage of the process, should be treated equally.”
Now that’s something we can get behind. And so are the following recipes, which can help you ease away from your work week in fair fashion. Want a completely fresh take on an autumn cocktail? Try the Fair Trade Quinoa Vodka, Arugula, Kale and Lemon Martini concocted by the Proprietors Bar & Table in Nantucket, MA. For something a bit lighter but lush with flavor, try the Pink Lady Cocktail with Basil Infused Vodka from the Beard and Bonnet Blog. If you want something warming and evocative, try a Moroccan Etiquette, a spiked mint tea cocktail from San Francisco’s AQ Restaurant and Bar. Cheers!
